    Description

    Offered in this 7-day auction is a c.1770-1790 Boarding Hook.  This is a heavy, forged iron grappling or boarding hook with original rope ring.  3-prong hook exhibits nice patina and wear from age and use. During naval combat, hooks like these would be thrown over the decking from one ship to another to stay the rival ship or pull it closer for boarding.
    Measures 10" tall. Ring measures 2 7/8" diameter.  Measures about 4-5" between each hook point.
